MANCHESTER UNITED have renewed their interest in Norwich defender Max Aarons – but may have to wait until the summer.

The highly-rated England under-21 international is wanted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and would jump at the chance of a move.

Yet the Championship leaders are in no need to sell financially having banked over £40million in the summer after selling Ben Godfrey to Everton and Jamal Lewis to Newcastle.

Aarons, 20, was frustrated with the Canaries after they blocked a summer move to Barcelona.

But the LaLiga giants were only offering a loan switch with a view to a permanent move.

It was a deal which did not interest Norwich for that reason.

Spurs also had an offer worth up to £30m turned down 18 months ago although due to the Covid crisis, Aarons’ current value is worth nearer £20m.

United were interested in Aarons in June 2019 but he was the second option behind Aaron Wan-Bisska who moved from Crystal Palace for £50m.

But while Wan-Bissska is a solid defence, Solskjaer wants a right-back with more of an attacking threat and this is one of the Norwich player’s biggest strengths.

Norwich’s other big asset is Emi Buendia but despite being watched by Arsenal, is unlikely to be the subject of a major offer in January.

But he, too, will be keen to move on in the summer even if his club is promoted under Daniel Farke.

Elsewhere, Edinson Cavani is said to be keen on a new Man Utd deal after settling into a Cheshire house with his family.

And while fans will be keen to know who is coming in, SunSport revealed seven stars who could be headed for the Old Trafford exit in January.
