LIVERPOOL have received a huge boost in their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Timo Werner.

The 23-year-old striker is stalling on a new contract with the German club amid interest from the Premier League giants and a host of our sides across the continent.

His deal expires next year, meaning Leipzig will need to sell this summer or they risk losing him for nothing in 12 months.

Now his manager Ralf Rangnick has told him unless he signs, he should go now.

When quizzed by Doppelpass at Sport1 on Werner’s future, the Austrian said: “Our position is that if he does not renew the contract, he should change clubs.”

Rangnick was keen stress the Bundesliga outfit are yet to receive any offers.

But admitted it looks likely the star hotshot will be off.

He added: “He has let us know and implied that he will not renew the contract.

“He would first have to agree with a club and this club would have to contact RB, which has not happened to my knowledge.”

Werner has been in stunning form to Leipzig finish third in the top-flight.

The Germany international bagged 19 goals throughout the campaign.

But it is not just scoring exploits that have caught Klopp’s eye.

Werner has also registered 11 assists, and the Reds boss would love to add the ace to his attack for a renewed tilt at the title next season.
