LA LIGA are set to investigate Antoine Griezmann's transfer to Barcelona after Atletico Madrid demanded they BLOCK the move.

The French striker left Atleti via his £108million release clause earlier this month.

But his old club are unhappy because Barca allegedly reached an agreement with Griezmann during the spring – when his buyout was £180m.

The disagreement presents a major issue for La Liga, whose president Javier Tebas confirmed a formal complaint had been received on Wednesday.

He told radio station Onda Cero: "Atletico have written [to La Liga] and asked whether or not we should provide a licence for Griezmann at Barcelona.

"There is the ability to block a player's licence."

Tebas noted that he personally has no say on the matter, with it up to the relevant bodies to investigate.

He added:  "There is a mechanism that has been put in place and it will be the bodies that must resolve the situation.

"I have no element of judgement."

Griezmann joined Los Rojiblancos in 2014 after breaking through at Real Sociedad, and rejected the chance to sign for Manchester United before picking the La Liga champions.

Barcelona angered Atletico when they attempted to negotiate Griezmann's £108m fee, with the Madrid club claiming they wanted to delay the payment.

In addition, Diego Simeone's side publicly slated Barca due to their belief that Griezmann had been approached before the release clause dropped on July 1.

While the forward asked to leave in May, Atleti say he had shaken hands with the Catalans after they were dumped out of the Champions League in March.

Meanwhile, Griezmann featured in a Barcelona shirt for the first time on Tuesday in a friendly loss to Chelsea.
