A night of drama in Group F has teed up an eighth major tournament meeting between England and Germany and a sizeable chunk of the early money suggests it will go down to the wire again.

Raheem Sterling (5/2) and Kai Havertz (3/1) have been identified as prime candidates to find the net having bagged two each in the group stages.

Germany have shortened slightly into 17/2 from 9/1 to heap more spot-kick heartache on Gareth Southgate, although the same can be said for England despite their concerning record of losing six of their eight major tournament shootouts.
Two of those defeats came at the hands of Germany and with six of their seven penalty shootouts ending in victories, the stats are in favour of the visitors if the latest showdown between the old enemies goes the distance.

The betting for the Irish Derby at the Curragh suggests Aidan O’Brien is on course for aremarkable fifteenth win in the race after High Definition was backed to see off the ten final challengers who were confirmed on Thursday.
The Galileo colt was an antepost favourite for the Epsom equivalent earlier this month before plans changed in favour of a run at the Curragh and Ryan Moore’s mount on Saturday has been clipped into 7/4 from 2/1 earlier in the week.
O’Brien’s prolific strike record in the race is being heavily backed to continue, so it’ll be no surprise if the favourite goes off even shorter on Saturday afternoon.
His hand is strengthened by 2,000 Guineas third Van Gogh (14/1), Wordsworth (16/1), Arturo Toscanini (40/1) and 100/1 outsider Matchless.
A strong British challenge is expected and features joint second favourite Mojo Star, although Richard Hannon’s Epsom Derby second has been eased to 5/1 from 4/1 to go one better than his three runner-up finishes to date.
Hurricane Lane, who finished clear of High Definition when winning the Dante at York in May, is moving in the right direction at 5/1 from 11/2, while the booking of Frankie Dettori has seen Lone Eagle backed into 13/2 from 8/1.
