NEYMAR should be allowed to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer if that's what he really wants, according to club team-mate Marco Verratti.

The Brazilian, 27, has been linked with a move "home" to former club Barcelona, but has been unable to force his dream move through.

Now, PSG team-mate Verratti has revealed the Ligue 1 giants should let him go – but admitted he's not once heard Neymar express his desire to leave.

Verratti said: "I think that if a player wants to leave, in the end he will always find a way to go.

"And it's better like that, otherwise the club will keep someone who does not want to be there – someone who will be against the club.

"When a player really wants to leave, the club must let him go, depending on the conditions set by the club, of course.

"But do not hold back a player who wants to leave."

DIFFICULT TIME

Verratti went on to say while he's not spoken with Neymar too much this summer – not once did he hint he was quitting.

The Italian continued: "I was not able to talk to him a lot, but I think he went through a difficult time.

"Especially with his injury that deprived him of playing in the Copa America.

"He also lived through complicated times in his private life, which we talked about a lot…

"I never heard him say he wanted to leave."

Neymar has missed the entirety of PSG's pre-season – and skipped his first scheduled day back today.

The Brazil star missed the Copa America with an ankle injury but then did not report back on the arranged date.

Antoine Griezmann has urged Barcelona to make a move for Neymar – with Lionel Messi reportedly holding off signing a new contract until the Brazilian returns.
