A BILLIONAIRE former Manchester United owner's son offered a brand new £250,000 Ferrari to racing fans – and it was eventually won by one lucky horse trainer.

The incredible gesture was part of an amazing bonus scheme dreamed up by racing tycoon Tom Magnier.

To be in with a chance of winning the car, you must buy a horse and see it win one of 16 selected qualifying races.

The horse you buy must be one of the yearling crop of Justify, the unbeaten superstar of US racing who won connections £2,813,333 from just six races.

His offspring will hit Australasian sale rings early this year.

Justify's stud fee is more than £75,000 and his progeny was highly sought after.

Tom, who is based in Australia, faced a dilemma after his horse Learning To Fly won the Inglish Millennium last month.

Coolmore, the global racing operation Magnier Snr runs, own the horse.

Tom couldn't hand himself the keys to the car – so instead gave them to winning trainer Annabel Neasham.

The car is powered by a 3.9litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, has a top speed of 224mph and can 0-62mph in just three seconds flat.

Before the competition kicked off Magnier, whose dad John owned Man Utd before selling to the Glazers and is said to be worth around £1.9billion, explained why he had put the idea together.

He said: "In the past, other farms have offered cash bonuses as incentives for various first-crop sires.

"However, with a stallion as special as Justify, we thought it was appropriate to reward the owners of the first Group 1-winning Justify with a Ferrari.

"Ferraris and Justify have so much in common.
