FOOTIE ace Marcus Rashford has some irons in the fire — after snapping up his own golf course.

The Manchester United and England striker splashed out on the greenfield site as he plans to design and build a new home in the grounds.

Rashford, 22, lives in a £1.85million six-bed home in Cheshire.

But he bought the new site after deciding he needed somewhere more secluded to protect his privacy.

His new pile will be a far cry from his humble beginnings growing up on a council estate in Wythenshawe, Gtr Manchester.

A source said: “Marcus understands that part of being a footballer is being a public figure and wants to use his position as a positive force.

“But he also wants to be able to go home, shut the door and live a peaceful life off the pitch.

“He thinks building a new house surrounded by greenery will give him the escape he needs.

“He doesn’t even play but I’m sure some of his teammates will be keen to come and whack a ball or two.”

Yesterday it emerged Rashford is also to grace the cover of Vogue, The Sun can reveal.

The striker was chosen by editor Edward Enninful because of his high-profile campaign to extend the free school meals programme.

Marcus shot pictures for the fashion bible in June, and will appear in the September issue.

It’s thought the issue will include a number of high-profile activists.
