ELENA RYBAKINA is the Wimbledon champion as she writes history for her nation.

The Kazakhstani becomes the first player – male or female – to win a Grand Slam.


And she did it the hard way, eventually prevailing in three sets on Centre Court against Ons Jabeur.

Jabeur took the opener 6-3 but Rybakina battled back by claiming the second

And the early break in the decider, plus another at 4-2, helped the former Russian close out victory.
