PREMIER LEAGUE duo Chelsea and Manchester City have been handed horror Champions League quarter-final draws against both Madrid clubs.

Defending European champions Chelsea will play Real Madrid, who are chasing an astonishing 14th European crown.

The Blues will play the first leg at Stamford Bridge but face a nail-biting second meeting at the Bernabeu.

Chelsea met Real in the semi-finals of the Champions League last year where they defeated the Spanish side 3-1 on aggregate to reach the final.

The two teams had only previously met in the 1998 Super Cup Final, won by a Gustavo Poyer goal for the Blues.

They also met in the 1971 Cup Winners Cup Final where Chelsea lifted the trophy after a 2-1 replay win in Athens.

Manchester City have also been handed a tough draw.

Pep Guardiola's men will face Atletico Madrid, who slayed city neighbours Manchester United 2-1 on aggregate in the last round.

And should both of the English clubs make it through, they will battle it out in the next round for a spot in the final held in Paris.

The two sides met in last year's competition finale but Chelsea came out on top thanks to a Kai Havertz winner.
