BOURNEMOUTH are preparing a £1million bid to snare Colchester striker Sammie Szmodics.
The Cherries are only a point away from the Premier League relegation zone, and have only won one of their last five games.
And boss Eddie Howe is seemingly on the lookout for some additions to his forward line, and has earmarked Colchester's top-scorer as a potential addition, according to the Daily Star.
Szmodics is the League Two promotion-chasers' top-scorer this season with 12 goals in 23 games.
He failed to make the starting XI for The Us at the weekend as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat to Cheltenham, prompting speculation that he is on his way.
But manager John McGreal insisted he was rested due to fatigue.
Speaking after the defeat, McGreal said: "We changed a couple of players the other day and we've had to do that again, with Szmods.
“His fatigue has shown and that’s just the way it is.
