DANI ALVES will go down in history as one of the most decorated footballers of all time.

But unfortunately for the former Barcelona star, he has also managed to set an unwanted record.

The Brazilian has won an astonishing 43 TROPHIES in his career, many coming during the glory years of Barcelona domination in Spain.

But the 36-year-old is now plying his trade back in his homeland, for Sao Paulo.

And in their league clash against Athletico PR, Alves had what many would describe as "a mare".

He misplaced 11 passes during the game that Sao Paulo fell to a 1-0 home defeat.

That set a new record for the 2019 Serie A season in Brazil.

It's certainly a far cry from his stunning performances for the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain in his trophy-laden 18-year career.

Alves is the most successful footballer in history.

Andres Iniesta has 37 winners medals on his mantelpiece with former Barca defender Maxwell and another Egyptian, Ibrahim Hassan, possessing the same amount.
