    HENDERSON LOAN

Dean Henderson reportedly wants to seal a January exit from Manchester United with three clubs interested in a loan transfer.

The Sun has revealed that Championship side Bournemouth are exploring the possibility of a temporary transfer, while Premier League sides Leeds United and Brighton are also interested parties.

Henderson is aiming to keep his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad at next summer’s delayed European Championships and a lack of regular football at club level will surely be hindering his chances of selection.

    FERNANDES REVELATION

Nemanja Matic has revealed Bruno Fernandes told Manchester United teammates he made contact with the ball after conceding a penalty against West Brom at Old Trafford.

Matic, who played in a double midfield pivot alongside Fred against the Baggies, believes the correct decision was ultimately made by the officials.

He said: “Bruno said straight away that he had the ball at first.

“The referee gave the penalty but VAR is there to see and to make correct decisions. That’s why people made VAR, to reduce the mistakes and to give correct decisions.

“I think it was not a penalty and I’m happy that he overturned.”

    PENALTY CONFUSION

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he's unclear on what the current rules are on penalties.

Solskjaer was speaking after his side narrowly beat West Brom 1-0 yesterday due to Bruno Fernandes's penalty strike.

WBA on the other hand were awarded a penalty which was overturned by VAR.

Speaking on the penalty controversy Solskjaer said: “I looked at a penalty this afternoon, [Aston] Villa against Brighton and there's contact on the ball and then the man.

“In my head it might be a penalty. Maybe here we're a tad lucky but none of them are given. Maybe the rules are different to how I interpret them.”

    FERDINAND URGES MIDFIELD DROP

Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ditch one of his holding midfielders.

Ferdinand feels the team’s creativity is being hindered by their overly cautious line-ups.

He said: “That’s the problem when you play the two sitters there, if one or two of them can’t pass then it makes it a bigger problem.

“If you’ve not got a threat with a 30 or 40-yard pass from deep, teams don’t have to come out.”

    SCHOLES SOLVES

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told how to solve problems at home by his former team-mate Paul Scholes.

Scholes has identified what he thinks is the main problem for his former side's lack of creativity in home matches this season.

Speaking to BT Sport he said: “The midfield they play is okay when you’re playing away from home when you have to get to the ball, you have to take the ball off people and can play on the counter-attack at times.

“I think at home, where you can have a lot of the ball, I don’t think the quality is quite there for the both of them.

“Whether it’s Fred and Matic or Fred and [Scott] McTominay, they’re both good at sitting and controlling games of football, protecting the two centre-halves, which is really why they’re playing.”

    FERNANDES CONTROVERSY

Ian Wright has called for a change in the laws of football to stop penalty takers jumping in their run-up like Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes scored the game’s only goal as United beat West Bromwich Albion 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday night, but his goal was surrounded by controversy.

His stuttering run-up and jump before striking the ball makes it harder for the goalkeeper to time their dive and Match of the Day pundit Wright believes a law change is needed to level the playing field.

He said: ” It is [difficult for goalkeepers].

“And then you've got forwards jumping up, doing this, doing that sort of stuff and the goalie can't move his foot off.

“They should stop people jumping and that, they should have to make a full… just run at the ball and hit it. If they can move and the goalies can't, that's not fair.”

    NO KILLER INSTINCT

Manchester United's Nemanja Matic believes the club needs to develop a 'killer instinct' in order to win titles.

The defender shared his views with MUTV after their 1-0 win against West Brom yesterday.

He said: “When we score first we have to go on and kill the game as soon as possible, especially in the Premier League. We have to improve on that.”

    SOLSKJAER DISAPPOINTMENT

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted Manchester United’s performance against West Brom ‘was a step back’.

The Red Devils beat West Brom on Saturday thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty but the game was dominated by VAR decisions.

After the match, Solskjaer told talkSPORT: “Today was a step back, performance wise it wasn’t the greatest and we have to be honest enough to say that it wasn’t good enough.

“We got the three points. Everton last game, we were absolutely spot on, on the ball and off the ball.

“We need to get that consistency of performances and look ourselves in the mirror and say that wasn’t good enough but we got three points.”

    TERRIFIC TELLES

    SOLSKJAER ON WBA WIN

After the victory over West Brom, the Norwegian said: “We're delighted to get three points, of course.

“First win in league this season and a clean sheet, so we're happy with that.

“Very tight calls and I think he probably made two right decisions with the pens… three right decisions because Sam was off the line.

“We know we can play better than this and we certainly could've made it more comfortable if we'd taken our chances early on.

“When you don't do that it's always an edge to the game and we saw it edgy towards the end.

“It was important to get that win, you could see that. We didn't have composure or quality to get the second goal that would have made it more comfortable.”

    GOOD MORNING RED DEVILS FANS

Manchester United moved into the top half of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win against West Brom.

A controversial retaken penalty from Bruno Fernandes secured United's first home win of the season.

There were doubts over whether it should even have been awarded, minutes after West Brom were denied what looked to be a clear penalty when Fernandes kicked Conor Gallagher.

And after Sam Johnstone moved over his line to save Fernandes' first effort, the midfielder made sure his second effort found the back of the net.

Meanwhile, SunSport can exclusively reveal Dean Henderson is keen to grab a loan move out of United in a bid to keep his place in England’s squad for the Euro 2020 finals.

And United have a major problem looming as Argentine keeper Sergio Romero is looking to move, leaving Henderson as Solskjaer’s only cover.

Championship high-fliers Bournemouth are already exploring a loan move for Henderson but he would prefer Premier League game time.

Leeds and Brighton may look at a loan deal in January but United will have the final say.

Finally, Everton supremo Marcel Brands is a leading candidate to become United’s first director of football.

Brands’ stock is high after masterminding a summer of recruitment in which they signed James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Dutchman’s deal expires at the end of the season and Italian club Roma are interested.

But now Brands is being strongly linked with a summer move as part of United’s restructuring.

And friends believe he would find a formal approach hard to refuse.

    IN FOR THE KYL

Premier League sides are on red alert after Monaco’s former president claims Kylian Mbappe is seriously considering leaving PSG.

Vadim Vasilyev told Telefoot: “He is going to have to make very important decisions, and right now he seems more headed towards a way out.

“Nothing is impossible. Kylian is young and what he wants to win are titles. He is ambitious. He wants to win everything and break all the records.

“If tomorrow PSG propose an ambitious project, where he feels comfortable and with options to go further and guarantees that he can win everything in his career, he could renew.”
