  • MAURICIO POCHETTINO has put Manchester United and Arsenal on red alert after claiming he is ready to return to management straight away.

The Argentine was sacked by Tottenham after a poor start to the season – but is still held in high regard after the magnificent job he did over his first five years at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino told Fox Sports Argentina: “My first decision was to come back to Argentina, return to my home and see family and friends.

“But I expect to return to Europe to make decisions on my future.

“My best decision was to come to Argentina to switch off for ten days.

“At my age I don't need a lot of time to recover. I am open to listen to projects put before me.”

  • MAURICIO POCHETTINO is the hot favourite to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United manager.

At the weekend United were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Aston Villa as fans were left with yet more frustrations.

And it means Solskjaer is facing even more pressure in the hotseat.

Pochettino was one of the early favourites for the job when Jose Mourinho was sacked.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED fans have demanded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be sacked following their home draw against Aston Villa.

Supporters appear to have snapped after Solskjaer's side limped to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford against a side with the worst away record in the Premier League.

User @RedDevilBible wrote: “I'm sorry but this is absolutely unacceptable. UNACCEPTABLE.”

@wickedchandy said: “Sack this Norwegian fraud. Unbelievable, showing faith in a manager who has not achieved anything is insanity.”

Fan @GeorgeKachaje added: “There needs to be a club statement tomorrow man, this is diabolical, imagine a team making you start to lose your love of football, this is Aston Villa at Old Trafford lads.”

  • MANCHESTER UNITED workers had to use power tools to force open the frozen entrance to Carrington on Monday before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived.

The manager's Scandinavian welcome came after temperatures plummeted to -5°C overnight in the north-west.

Manchester United returned to training in the chilly conditions after Tyrone Mings' ice-cool finish condemned the Red Devils to another home draw on Sunday evening.

The Old Trafford defence froze like statues to allow the England defender to make it 2-2 after goals from Marcus Rashford and Victor Lindelof set them on course to extend their hot streak to three home wins in a row.

With the side stuck in ninth place in the league, it was no surprise to see sparks flying as the recriminations began at Carrington.
