  • EVERTON have seen a loan proposal for Chris Smalling rejected.

    The Manchester United defender has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs, including the Toffees.

    It is thought that first-team minutes may be hard to come by after United completed the £85m signing of Harry Maguire from Leicester earlier in the week.

    However, Sky Sports News report that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still views Smalling as a key part of the defence at Old Trafford and is unwilling to allow the former England international to leave on loan.

  • MANCHESTER UNITED have sent scouts to watch wonderkid winger Hakon Evjen.

    Evjen has impressed so far this season for Bodo/Glimt in his native Norway.

    According to TV2, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing a deal for the youngster and sent a number of delegates to see him in action.

    The self-proclaimed United fan impressed in his audition, scoring twice against Stromsgodset to give help his side to a 3-1 win.

    His goal tally for the season now stands at six in 14, alongside an additional three assists.

    Speaking about the rumours, Evjen said: “We'll see. Nothing has come yet, but I have always been a United boy.”

    Rivals Manchester City are also thought to be interested in signing the 19-year old.

  • CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN to Manchester United is OFF.

    United intensified their interest in the midfielder in recent days, but talkSPORT sources understand there's no chance the the Dane will leave Spurs.

    The Daily Express report that boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is happy with the current squad, but believe the Norwegian should make a late swoop for Leicester's James Maddison if he is serious about bringing in a midfielder.

  • SUNSPORT's Mike McGrath reveals that Romelu Lukaku believes he DID have permission to train away from Manchester United.

    The striker met United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday and was told to work away from the first-team.

    Lukaku has been pushing for a move away from the club, and is not wanted by Solskjaer while he continues to chase a transfer to Italy.

    The Belgian spent two days training with Anderlecht, and though it has been reported that he missed United training without permission, Lukaku believes there is no case for him to be fined after he was given the green light by Solskjaer.

    Should Lukaku return to Carrington, he will train with the Under-23s rather than the senior squad.
