Former Love Island contestant Shaughna Phillips has exclusively revealed that Love Islanders sleep together in same sex couples every Friday while in the villa.

The 28 year old star, who famously made waves as a contestant during the sixth series of the popular ITV2 dating show revealed the news to OK! during this week’s edition of Let's Chat, Hun on Instagram Live.

While addressing a popular rumour that Islanders get to have Saturdays off to leave the villa for a trip to the beach or some downtime out in the real world, Shaughna shared what really happens, including an exclusive insight into the Friday night sleeping arrangements.

Dismissing the beach rumours, the former Islander said: “It used to be the case for the first few seasons, but I think as it was getting bigger and bigger, they couldn’t do that anymore because everyone was obviously watching it.”

The bombshell then went on to reveal that despite assumptions to the contrary, downtime in the villa is actually pretty normal.

“So you kind of stop filming on a Friday – and then on Friday afternoon you can do your laundry, stuff like that,” she added.

Although an essential part of villa life, it didn’t exactly scream relaxation, something Shaughna went on to address a few seconds later as she described how producers kept them entertained.

“It’s when you relax, you can kind of chill out,” she said.

“Sometimes they’d give you inflatables in the pool and stuff – but you’re not allowed to talk about anything that’s going on, or anything like that.”

As the evening then winds down, couples are then expected to head to bed, but without the cameras rolling, there is one distinct change to the villa sleeping arrangements every Friday night.

Dropping the little known fact, Shaughna said: “You have to sleep in like, same sex couples that night, so they don’t miss anything, and then you start filming again on Saturday afternoon.”

Love Island continues every night at 9pm on ITV2.
