Kate Middleton and Prince William are the parents of three young children. They have spoken about their children and parenting in the past.

They had their first child, Prince George, in July 2013.

Two years later, Princess Charlotte was born and they welcomed Prince Louis in 2018.

The royals will keep their children out of the public eye most of the time.

But on occasions when they attend events as a family, royal fans could learn a lot about their parenting style.

Parenting expert and managing director at Kiddies Kingdom Mohammed Patel commented on their public appearances.

Kate and Prince William have often opened up on mental health and the expert suggested they are also open with their children.

He said: “Kate and William have always shown an interest in mental health and wellbeing, and their honesty in talking about their own struggles is refreshing and, in some way, unheard of for the Royal Family.

“Kate never shies away from talking about uncomfortable topics and her parenting style reflects this.

“[She makes] sure she is as open and honest with her family as possible.

“Whilst it is important not to overwhelm children, instilling clear communication from a young age will help them feel confident and independent enough to make their own decisions.”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are passionate about giving back and work with many charities.

This generosity is something they also seem to encourage in their children, the expert claimed.

He continued: “Kate has always had a passion for charity work and giving back and where possible, is beginning to involve her children in this process.

“With this, Kate is teaching her children the importance of helping others less fortunate and using their roles for good, which in turn instils gratitude and respect from a young age.”

There are lots of traditions which have been followed by Royal Family members before.

While Kate does not avoid tradition entirely, Mohammad suggested she has “moved away” from some of these to create her own parenting style.

He added: “Kate’s modern style of parenting is unique, she strives to teach her children the importance of ‘normal life’ and refrains from overindulging them, despite clearly coming from a privileged background.

“She is moving away from royal traditions, creating her own style that is in line with both her own values and today’s society.

“Above all, Kate is a mother we can relate to.

“She is raising her children to be respectful, but most importantly, happy and loved.”
