Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are gearing up for Her Majesty’s celebration of 70 years on the throne, but it looks like Netflix crews won’t be allowed anywhere near Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee festivities. The move—which will deprive the streaming giant of prized footage—is just the latest incident that has the company feeling frustrated with the royal couple.

According to The Sun, staff at Buckingham Palace are plotting to stop The Duke & Duchess of Sussex from destroying the celebrations with their Netflix film crew. The couple announced on Friday they will be attending the big event with their children, just moments after news broke that the Queen barred them from the Palace balcony.

A team of palace aides is reportedly planning to block the Netflix crew from filming inside any Jubilee events, but an insider warns that they might still cause a distraction.

“Even if they accept that their Netflix crew can’t go into Buckingham Palace to film, they could cause problems – and at the very least cause a major distraction,” an insider told the mag. “Senior courtiers believe that Netflix will see it as one big opportunity to exploit their mega-millions agreement with the couple.”

The news is sure to irk Netflix, with executives allegedly already upset with the couple. Prince Harry and Meghan signed a massive deal with the streaming platform, and while terms of the deal were not disclosed, estimates place the payday north of $100 million.

But an industry source told DailyMail on Sunday: “Harry and Meghan’s slate of projects could be in jeopardy as they have announced plans to make shows that are educational and inspiring, rather than sexy and sensational.”

When the royal couple finally managed to conjure up something interesting—details of Prince Harry’s private chat with the Queen —it was aired on NBC instead of Netflix!

“Netflix would have loved the first comments about the visit to the Queen for the documentary,” an insider said of the streaming giant’s recent tensions with the royal couple. “There was a real sense of annoyance that they were made to another broadcaster.”

Netflix recently scrapped Meghan’s animated children’s series, Pearl. It’s unclear if they’ll shop it around or dump the project altogether.
