BUYING Christmas gifts can be an expensive task, but one savvy mum managed to bag £132.97 worth of Nintendo Switch games for just £25.47.

Emma Farrell, 42, made the most of a Nectar points offer and used a Sainsbury's coupon to get the sweet savings in time for Christmas.

The savvy mum-of-four, who lives in Wrexham in North Wales with her family including partner Stuart, 41, posted a photo of her bargain buys on the Latest Deals website.

They included Luigi's Mansion 3, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe, which usually cost between £42.99 and £44.99 each at Sainsbury's.

Emma used the yearly Nectar double-up offer which currently lets you exchange your points for a double up voucher.

The promotion gives shoppers a chance to get ahead of their Christmas shopping, and is valid on wine, electricals, clothing, toys and more.

Emma, who works as a mentor for Latest Deals, said she always saves up her Nectar points throughout the year to use them in the deal.

This is because her four sons – Ryan, 22, Callum, 21, Oliver, seven, and Harry, two – usually want video games for Christmas, and the offer includes that.

This time around she had £50 worth of Nectar points, meaning she got vouchers worth £100 thanks to the offer.

She also had a £7.50 coupon that she could use at the same time, so she cut the shopping bill by £107.50 in total.

She told The Sun: "I do it every year, I’m a bit of a Nectar point queen.

"I shop at Sainsbury’s all the time, so I look out for the Nectar offers throughout the year."

Emma is sure her seven-year-old son Oliver will be over the moon with the games, which are on his Christmas list this year.

She told Latest Deals: "He will be so excited as I kept saying to him that's a lot on games and I don't know if Father Christmas will pay that much.

"I know that without this offer there is no way I would be spending £133 on three games.

"I was super excited that they were all in stock and before I doubled up the points on the app, I went to customer services and asked them to check if all three games were in stock first.

"I couldn't believe it when they were as my Sainsbury's only has a relatively small games section."

How to boost your Nectar points

IF you’re keen to make the most of the double up offer too, Emma recommends doing a bit of research before heading to your local store. Here are her best tips:

  • Find out the games or products you want and make a list with alternatives just in case your chosen ones aren't in stock
  • Ask at customer services before doubling up to check as the games are empty cases and they may not have them in the stock room
  • If there is no stock, ask when they will have more in or if another local store has stock and if they can check
  • Check your Nectar app for bonus spends and offers all year round to collect the points and keep them for the double up
