Over the years, Meghan Markle has been accused of a wide sundry of offenses against the British royal family. From making Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge cry to not wearing the right stockings, the Duchess of Sussex can’t seem to do anything right in the Windsor’s eyes. Now, a Hollywood actor has accused her of even more offenses. This time, it has to do with a local Starbucks. Let’s take a look at the latest allegations.

Rob Lowe claims Meghan Markle ruined his local Starbucks

In a recent interview with E! News, Rob Lowe said that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s move into his neighborhood has ruined his local Starbucks.

“Once the royals move into your neighborhood, the neighborhood is never going to be the same,” he said. “The good news is property values go up. The bad news is the lines are longer at Starbucks.” Lowe also said that the Sussex’s keep a low profile, though he thinks he saw Prince Harry driving one time.

Lowe, like the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, lives in Montecito, a suburb of Los Angeles just outside of Santa Barbara. Other celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey and Ariana Grande, also call Montecito home. So how did the Sussex’s move into the area cause all these long lines at the coffee shop, when no other celebrity had this effect?

The local Starbucks baristas refute his claims

The Insider dispatched a reporter to Montecito to investigate Rob Lowe’s claims against Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. When the reporter got there, his first stop was at the Starbucks in question.

Baristas behind the counter immediately made clear that they’d never seen Lowe at Starbucks. They have, however, seen other famous Montecito residents, like Katy Perry, Chrissy Teigen, and Glee star Jane Lynch. But, said the baristas, the celebrities don’t get any preferential treatment at the store. “There’s like an unspoken rule,” said one barista. “We treat them like everyone else.”

What’s more, said the baristas, no one has seen the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since they first moved into the area in the summer of 2020.

What’s really causing the longer lines?

Contrary to Rob Lowe’s assertion, Meghan Markle isn’t causing the lines at Starbucks to be longer. In fact, the baristas said, there’s another culprit behind the admittedly-longer lines at the Montecito Starbucks.

“Because of COVID, there’s a lot of mobile orders,” said one of the baristas to Insider. “So the lines to pick up have been longer.”
