Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have just welcomed their first child, a baby boy, into the world. It is thought the couple will now take a break from their royal duties so they can enjoy some time as first-time parents.  Although maternity leave in the UK stands at 52-weeks, the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly hoping to get back to work as she feels ready. When the Duke and Duchess do go back to work, who will look after the royal baby?

Meghan Markle baby: This is who will look after Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry’s baby

Meghan Markle was brought up in California and was raised by her mum, Doria Ragland, and dad, Thomas Markle.

Her husband, Prince Harry, had a completely different upbringing and his nanny, Tigg Legge-Bourke, was reportedly an important figure in his life, offering support after the death of his mother, Princess Diana.

The Duchess of Sussex will no doubt take time off to enjoyed with her newborn, but she is thought to go back to work within three months of the birth.

With Meghan and Harry sure to be busy with their royal duties, they will most likely need help looking after their baby and could get a nanny like Prince Harry had.

Kate Middleton, 37, opted for a Spanish nanny to help look after her children, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could go down a very different route.

Meghan is enlisting the help of her mum and Doria is thought to be moving to Frogmore Cottage to offer a helping hand.

If the couple do need the help of a nanny, they may break royal tradition and find one from the US.

According to the Mirror, the Duchess was actively searching for an American nanny to provide childcare, and a source said Meghan “favours an American over a Brit”.

While royal family members have traditionally hired specially-trained Norland nannies, Meghan may opt for a less formal carer.

The source told the Mirror: “Meghan was clear in telling recruiters she favours an American over a Brit and wants them to feel part of the family rather than a uniformed member of staff.

“That is important to her, she’s never hidden the fact she is fiercely proud of her American roots.”

As well as having Doria around, Meghan is reportedly looking to move their nanny into their Windsor home.

They could also break tradition and opt for a male nanny, which would be a first for the royal family.

Meghan is thought to look to her mum for parenting tips, according to a body language expert.

Meghan Markle has a strong bond with her mum and could look to her to help her stay calm with the new baby around.

The royal baby has automatically been born both a US and UK citizen due to having a mum born in the US and a father who is British.
