Turkey may be in the cards for many on Christmas Day, but certainly not everyone.

Maybe you've already eaten so much turkey in the lead-up to Christmas you can't face another meal?

Or maybe you're travelling up or down the country to visit family? Alternatively maybe you just want to grab some fast food and avoid all the fuss.

Whatever your situation is, at some point this Christmas you may just want a quick and easy meal.

You might know when your favourite fast food place usually opens, but over the festive period it can be hard to keep track.

Unfortunately not every restaurant stays open over Christmas, so it's important to check to avoid disappointment.

Here is all you need to know about McDonald's, KFC and Burger King's Christmas opening times.

McDonald's Christmas opening times

If you're dreaming of tucking into a tasty burger on Christmas Day, you could be in luck.

McDonald's says it will be opening a "handful" of its restaurants on Christmas Day, but not all of them.

On its website, McDonald's says: "Only a handful of McDonald's restaurants open on Christmas Day, please refer to the restaurant locator to confirm if your local restaurant is open during the Christmas period and what times they are trading."

So before you decide on which burger you're going to have, make sure to use the restaurant's online locator tool to make sure your local one is open.

Last year the fast food chain kept open 33 stores on Christmas Day.

KFC Christmas opening times

If chicken is more your thing, we have some good news. A "number" of KFC restaurants will be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

On the KFC website, it says: "Oh we wish it could be Christmas every day. And we’re delighted to say that a number of our restaurants will be open on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

"But please check in advance to see if your local KFC is one of them. Our partner Uber Eats will also be delivering in certain locations so you can enjoy our festive menu at home."

Again, make sure to check the opening times of your local branch on the online locator tool. It will also vary by location what time KFC closes on Christmas Eve.

Burger King Christmas Opening times

Burger King very helpfully confirmed all its Christmas opening times to Daily Star – but unfortunately it's bad news.

Here are Burger King's full festive opening times:

  • Dec 24 (Christmas Eve): 10am – 7pm
  • Dec 25(Christmas Day): Closed
  • Dec 26 (Boxing Day): 11am – 8pm
  • Dec 27: Normal hours
  • Dec 28: Normal hours
  • Dec 29: Normal hours
  • Dec 30: Normal hours
  • Dec 31 (New Years Eve): 10am – 7pm
  • Jan 1 (New Years Day): Closed
  • Jan 2: Normal hours

However, keep in mind that opening times may vary from location to location, so the best thing to do if you have your heart set on a Whopper, is to check the store locator on the Burger King website.

Last year the majority of Burger King restaurants, apart from some motorway restaurants, were closed on Christmas Day.

They also reduced hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Day.
