LIDL is launching a robot vacuum this week costing £80 – and it could be the answer to all your hoovering needs.

Arriving in stores on Thursday, January 30, the high-tech Vileda VR One Cleaning Robot has a recommended retail price of £119.99, but Lidl will sell it for £79.99, saving shoppers a third.

Robot vacuum cleaners promise to clean your home without you lifting a finger by using in-built cameras to map out the room, then cleaning every inch methodically.

The VR One Cleaning Robot has two programmes, which will remove dust, dirt and pet hair from hard floors and short-pile carpets, and comes with a two-year guarantee for piece of mind.

It also has an intelligent navigation system to stop it bumping into things, and is surrounded by a soft bumper to protect your furniture.

A charger is included in the box, and the dust container is easy to empty.

Fully charged, the cleaner will run for 80 minutes – enough time to clean most homes.

But you will have to be quick – Lidl said it will only be on sale while stocks last and we expect it won't hang around for long.

Lidl ran a similar deal in 2018 and it proved incredibly popular.

And no wonder – similar robot cleaners made by brands such as Dyson and iRobot can cost up to £1,000.

We found the Vileda VR One Cleaning Robot going for £60 on second hand sites such as Gumtree, but at the moment that particular model is not on sale anywhere else.

But we did find cheaper options made by other brands.

The SIQDAK Robot Vacuum Cleaner, which is a three-in-one machine for sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, costs just £38.99 from Amazon.

And the UKIA Robot Vacuum Cleaner, which cleans up to 100 minutes per charge, is £39.99.

Both also qualify for free delivery.

Amazon also launched a £17 robot cleaner in December – so now there's no excuse for not hoovering.

There are hints the discount supermarket could soon offer an online delivery service after it hired a new digital project manager last year.
