While the intoxicated groom and his wife, who doesn’t feature in the clip, exchanged vows ‘for better or for worse,’ it seems he’s already relying heavily on her family.

Struggling to keep down a piece of food, the groom’s mother-in-law looks at the camera before sarcastically putting her thumbs up – and shoving it into his mouth.

Having great difficulty keeping his eyes open, the groom then faces the camera, showing off the mushed up food all over his face.

And many members of the public were left in hysterics after viewing the hilarious video.

‘I’m sorry this is great,’ wrote one. ‘She loves him enough to make sure he’s OK and even the food hanging out of his mouth she shoves in so it doesn’t fall on him.’

Defending the choice to get drunk at your own wedding, they continued: ‘Not that I would want to be this drunk or have my fiance this drunk at our wedding….but it’s a celebration.’

‘People celebrate. Who cares? It’s his and his wife’s day. They can do whatever they want.’

In agreement, another commented: ‘Why are so many people against getting wasted on their wedding day. As long as he was sober during the ceremony when they say “I do” what does it matter if he celebrated and had fun during the reception?’

While a third wrote: ‘He may be nervous and needed a drink to calm the nerves. I know I’d be drinking at my own wedding. Cannot handle that many people.’

Many praised the mother-in-law (pictured), with one social media user declaring her as ‘wonderful’

Meanwhile, others were full of praise for the mother-in-law and how well she dealt with the situation.

‘Best mother in-law of the year,’ enthused one, while another commented: ‘She didn’t look too happy but it shows what a beautiful person she is inside with a big heart. Kudos mother-in-law.’

However, while many were amused by the groom’s drunken antics, others were left feeling outraged.

‘This isn’t funny, it’s sad,’ wrote one. ‘Why would you not want to remember the happiest day of your life? And then to BE REMEMBERED as so drunk you couldn’t eat food? PASS.’

A second commented: ‘Wow……he’s a keeper. Getting into that state on your wedding day is recipe for disaster for the marriage…..so disrespectful,’ while a third added:

‘God isn’t she a lucky bride, not. It’s meant to be the happiest day and night of your life. Nice wedding day and night she had. ‘

‘I would be gone in the morning when he sobered up and divorce papers would be served to him shortly after. Why some women accept this is beyond me.
