DRAFT excluders are the perfect way to keep warm inside your house without needing to keep the heating on for long.

This is especially so now that temperatures have dropped and roads are covered in snow.

Keeping cold air out and hot air in with a draught excluder could help you save money this winter.

Energy bills are now frozen at £2,500 – but prices remain sky high as the cost of living ploughs on.

It means millions are concerned about how they will be able to afford to heat their homes this winter.

There's not much you can do to buffer yourself against soaring prices, but you can cut your energy usage and save on bills.

I’m a heating expert – four boiler tips that could slash your energy bills

Using a draught excluder is one way to cut the amount of energy you're using.

Placing draught excluders around windows and doors could save you £45 a year, according to The Energy Saving Trust.

This is because keeping chills out will keep your house warmer.

That means you're less likely to use your heating as much – saving you money on your bill.

CEREAL CHANGE

Kellogg's makes flavour change to popular cereal for first time in 40 years

So, we've listed the cheapest draught excluders we found in top shops and retailers – along with other heating gadgets you might want to try.

But keep in mind that there are many stores that sell draft excluders and there may be cheaper deals available elsewhere, so make sure you’ve found the best price before you hit the buy button.

Factor in delivery costs too, if you're ordering online – you don't want to be caught out.

Screwfix

Screwfix sells an aluminium draft excluder on its website for just £5.94 – the cheapest we've seen.

It's 930mm long, and you'll need to screw it onto your door yourself. However, it should come with instructions on how to do that.

But keep in mind delivery costs add another £5 onto your order, so you might be better visiting your local store.

You can search for your nearest store on the site's website – and we recommend calling up first to make sure they have them in stock.

And make sure you have a few screwdrivers at home to use when you set it up – otherwise, Screwfix sells a pack of eight Stanley mixed screwdrivers for £9.99, down from £16.

Dunelm

Dunelm's Opulent Velvet Leopard Print draught excluder costs £14 on its website.

If you order it before December 16, delivery only costs £3.95, but any express or next day deliveries will set you back £5.95.

There's also the option to click and collect at your nearest store – which you can find on the Dunelm website.

The draft excluder also includes a removable cover which you can easily shove in the wash.

Tesco

We found an adorable Fox & Ivy Daschund Draft Excluder from Tesco for £14.

Its measurements are:

  • H20cm x W16cm x D17cm

Just keep in mind it's not suitable for the tumble dryer, and it might be safer to hand wash.

Again, keep in mind added delivery fees and call up your local store first to avoid missing out when you get there.

The Range

You can grab a lovely Tufted Draught Excluder from The Range for just £10.99.

If you order it now you could get it as soon as tomorrow, but it will charge you an extra £3.95 for delivery.

Of course, this price might vary depending on where you live, and if you're close to a branch.

Otherwise, it's made of cotton, which means you're instructed to wash it at 30C if you put it in the washing machine.

Measurements listed on the website are are:

  • Height: 22cm
  • Length: 85cm

It comes in cream and black.

Amazon

Amazon sells a British Home Bedding Fabric Draught Excluder for £7.49 each.

It says if you order it now it will arrive before Christmas – but just check delivery costs before you do so.

Three colours are in stock right now – including cream, purple and tan.

There's a machine-washable cover on it as well, which makes it easier to keep the dust away.

Homebase

Similar to the Screwfix one, you can get a metal Brush Door Bottom Strip Draught Excluder from Homebase for £11.

Again, you'll need to have screwdrivers to hand in order to attach it to your door.

However, you can cut it down to size and there's also adjustable screw placement depending on the length of your door.

But do note delivery may cost between £6 and £12.50 depending on the item size, and how far away you live.

B&Q

We found a Diall Foam Draught excluder from B&Q for just £7.62 – perhaps the easiest one to slide beneath your door without hassle.

At one meter long, you don't need any tools to put it in place, and it stays beneath the door as you open and close it.

And if you don't want to pay extra costs to have it delivered, it tells you on the website how many are in stock at your nearest store.

It's also free to click and collect – and in some locations you can pick it up in as little as an hour.

Wilko

There are fewer draft excluders in stock on the Wilko website, but we did find 5m White Door and Window Seal for just £3.50.

The way it works is you stick it beneath your doors and windows in order to keep the heat in – but it's thinner than a draft excluder.

However, there's only one left in stock online – so you'll need to hurry.

But do keep in mind that standard delivery costs an extra £4.95.

You don't get charged extra if you click and collect instead.

Asda

Similar to Wilko, there aren't any draft excluders in stock online at Asda, although your local store might have some, so it could be worth calling up to check.

Instead, we found a JML Handy Heater for £19.97.

It's a tiny heater that you can plug into a socket in the wall – emitting a temperature range of up to 32°C.

This could be a handy alternative to turning the heating on at home, especially if you're only using one room, and could save on bills.

But keep in mind, unlike the draft excluders and tape, that this is plugged in. So it will still cost a little on your electricity bill.

However, it does have a timer function – so you can set it to specific points in the day when you know you'll be in to avoid wasting it.
