And now, Brits can buy chewing gum that incorporates it.

The peppermint gum contains 3mg of hemp oil per piece.

It’s a vegan formula with zero sugar, calories or GMO.

Some believe that CBD has health benefits – claiming it works as a stress and pain reliever.

Studies have also shown it can help those suffering from epilepsy, nausea and chronic pain due to chemotherapy.

According to the NHS, more research must be done before the it is widely recommended.

The organisation’s website states: “Some products that might claim to be medical cannabis, such as ‘CBD oil’ or hemp oil, are available to buy legally as food supplements from health stores.

“But there's no guarantee these are of good quality or provide any health benefits.”

CBD was legalised in the UK last November.

While it’s a common perception that it can, CBD doesn’t get you high.

Even though cannabidiol is a chemical compound derived from the cannabis plant, it does not have psychoactive properties.

In comparison, marijuana that’s smoked contains THC.

This is a different cannabis plant compound that gives users a “stoned” feeling.
