B&M has started stocking a shimmery Candy Cane gin liqueur ahead of the festive period and it only costs a tenner.

The retro alco-pop is available only in stores across the UK and tastes of strawberries with hints of peppermint, giving you a sweet twist to your gin and tonic.

The What Lies Beneath 500ml bottle costs £9.99 a pop, smells like a candy shop and even sparkles when shaken, stirred or poured.

The tipple has 20 per cent alcohol by volume (ABV), which is less than straight gin that typically contains around 40 per cent.

This is because the spirit is mixed with sugars and flavours making the alcohol slightly weaker.

Nevertheless, it's still designed to be diluted with a mixer such as tonic – and remember to drink responsibly and be Drinkaware.

The Candy Cane gin liqueur will be on sale in some selected stores across the country until stocks last, although B&M wouldn't specify which ones.

Aldi also sells a similar Candy Cane gin liqueur that also tastes of sweet peppermint and vanilla flavour for the same price as B&M for a 500ml bottle.

The discounter is also stocking Candy Cane flavoured bottles of VK that comes in multi-packs of 10, costing £8.

As well as two candy cane bottles, the pack also contains other popular VK flavours like blue, watermelon and orange and passionfruit.

B&M currently has 650 stores nationwide – you can find your nearest one here.

NHS guidelines say that people shouldn't drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis.
