SHARON and Kaz failed to step forward for Hugo and Toby at the Love Island coupling up ceremony because the boys did not give them eye contact.

Viewers were quick to slam the girls for making ‘excuses’, one tweeting: “Just tell them you don't think they're fit!"

But Sun Sexpert Georgette Culley says it’s understandable they didn’t think theboys were keen because eye contact is the biggest giveaway you’re sexually attracted to someone.

She says: “The most powerful flirting is done with the eyes.

“Humans have more muscles around that part of the face than any other animal and we use them to express a thousand emotions.

“A quick flirtatious glance can say more than a touch or even a micro gesture like shrugging the eyebrows – which men often use to signal sexual interest.

“Without any of these signals the girls would have thought they weren’t focussed or interested in them.

“But in the boys’ defence they may have been avoiding eye contact because they felt nervous, awkward and were scared of rejection.”

Want to know if someone likes you? Here’s more secret signs to look out for to find out…

Male signs

GETS CLOSER

When a guy is keen he’ll lean into you and will struggle to pull away.

He won’t even realise he’s doing it but because he fancies the pants off you and wants to get close. Hopefully the feeling is reciprocated else it could get awks…

LOWER VOICE

Want to know if your date likes you? Listen up!

Research shows men tend to lower their voices when they’re sexually attracted to someone.

Scientists believe this is probably down to evolution, as lower voices sound more masquline, mature and dominant – making a brilliant mating tool.

GETS BIGGER

Standing up straight, puffing out his chest and flexing his muscles are all signs he got the hots for you.

Fellas tend to take up more space and make themselves appear larger when they’re trying to impress a woman.

Again it goes back to evolution – they want to be your superman and protect you so they’ll so they’ll subconsciously emulate action man poses.

MIRRORS YOU

Don’t be freaked out if you notice your date copying your expressions – it’s meant to be a compliment, not creepy.

Research shows men start to mirror their love interest when they feel emotionally connected and excited.

GROOMING

If your date is running his hand through his hair or over his lower face he wants to crack on with you.

Preening himself is one of the biggest telltale signs you’re making him nervous so don’t mistake his interest with vanity.

Female signs

PUPILS DILATE

She’ll literally give you big puppy dog eyes when she likes you.

This is because the brain releases the ‘love hormones’ oxytocin and dopamine which make her pupils larger when she’s sexually attracted to someone.

FEET POINT TOWARDS YOU

Are feet pointing towards you or in the other direction?

If it’s the latter she’s not interested and wants to do a runner but if her feet are pointing forward you’re making her weak at the knees.

GETS SHY

If she holds your eye contact for a moment and then quickly looks away with a hint of a smile on her face it could be because she fancies you.

Research shows women are less self-assured than men so will shy away from prolonged eye contact with their crush. We are complicated creatures.

TOUCHES HERSELF

No, not downstairs, your dirty little minds!

If she is stroking her hair, touching her lips, caressing her neck she is thinking about sleeping with you.

Studies show women subconsciously touch themselves more when they’re around someone they’re sexually attracted to.

TILTS HEAD

When a woman is trying to turn her date on she will subconsciously tilt her head forward and to one side, exposing the opposite side of her neck.

Research shows a woman’s face is seen as more attractive and feminine at this angle whereas guy’s tilt theirs back to appear more masquline.
