WE may know them as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – but for George, Charlotte and Louis, Kate Middleton and Prince William are just plain old mum and dad.

And as they don't have to bother with formalities at home, Prince George has come up with an adorable nickname for his dad.

And we're not exaggerating when we say it sounds like something straight out of an Enid Blyton book.

In 2018, Kate Middleton was chatting to fans at Leicester City Football Club when she let the nickname slip.

When royal fan Fiona Sturgess asked about the couple's three children, Kate reportedly said: "They are great, thank you."

Fiona told People at the time: "Kate said that William was playing football with the children last night.

"One of them said, I think it was George, 'Are you playing football tomorrow, Pops?'"

What's more, it has also been claimed the couple lovingly use the nickname PG for their eldest son – after his initials.

They then are reported to have then added Tips to the end of the nickname – after the famous tea brand – before eventually losing PG.

And as fans of Netflix's The Crown will already know, The Queen was lovingly nicknamed Lilibet by her parents as a child – which her late husband Prince Philip also used.

Meanwhile grandkids Prince George and Princess Charlotte refer to Her Majesty as “Gan-Gan”.

Prince William comically called the Queen “Gary” when he was young after struggling to correctly pronounce “Granny”.

Adorable Prince George and Princess Charlotte also have a sweet nickname for Camilla – and it’s not grandma.

The Duchess of Cornwall told singer Lady Gaga at the 2016 Royal Variety Performance that her grandkids call her “GaGa”.

Prince William may refer to his wife as “Catherine” in interviews, but he calls her sweet pet names in more casual settings.

He’s been overheard calling Kate Middleton “darling”, “babe” and “poppet” affectionately.

In more Royal Family news, this is how Kate Middleton is preparing the Cambridge kids to start school, from disciplining ‘naughty’ George to coded surnames.

And Prince Harry ‘wants to be more important than William’ and ‘can’t help showing off’, royal author claims.
