WHETHER they're big or small, fundamentally it's not the actual size of your boobs that matter – it's how confident you feel with your own body.

And while many of us are proud of our small busts, it can make othersfeel self-conscious about their chest.

If that's the case, there are plenty of little tips and tricks to accentuate what you have and give the illusion of a more ample bosom.

Lindsay Edwards, 37, owner of REIMAGISE Personal Styling, says: "Whilst every woman’s body is unique and beautiful, as a personal stylist I see many ladies who wish to highlight or disguise various areas of their body.

You’ve been wearing your bras all wrong – the straps should never be visible

"With the slightest of tweaks here and there, the way in which my clients dress can create the 'optical illusion' of the body they desire.

"One of the most common areas that women want to emphasise, or enlarge, is their bust.

"Aside from resorting to the obvious solution of a push up bra, there are various ways to do this, through the colours, patterns, necklines, texture of clothing and focal points."

Here Lindsay shares her top tips to making the most of your curves…

Accessories

If you're not sure if a certain top you have in the wardrobe is very flattering, don't discard it – you simply need some clever accessories.

Lindsay says: "You can draw attention to your bust area by using focal points such as pendant necklaces, which sit just above the bust.

"Additionally, clothing which feature breast pockets, slogans or embellishments across the chest can also enhance the size of your chest's appearance."

Colour

Colour can also have a huge impact, and can determine whether your outfit is 'drab' or 'fab'.

Lindsay says: "When it comes to which colours to wear to enhance the bust, lighter and brighter colours will have an enlarging effect.

"It’s best to avoid deeper, block colours which minimise size instead."

Pattern

Also think about the pattern you're wearing.

Lindsay says: "Patterned clothing on the top half will also emphasise the bust area.

"Horizontal stripes, such as those on a Breton top, are particularly good for creating the illusion of a larger bust.

"This is because they make the area seem wider, and therefore bigger."

Texture

Being clever with texture and layering can also help you achieve the shape you're looking for.

Lindsay says: "When it comes to textured fabrics – embrace them wholeheartedly as they add extra volume.

"The ribbed knits and ruched clothing which are currently very popular are great for highlighting feminine curves."

Neckline

Considering the cut of your clothing also can make a big difference.

Lindsay says: "The choice of neckline can also minimise or accentuate the bust area.

"Lower necklines such as v necks are great for visually reducing the size of the bust.

"However higher necklines such as roll necks, crew necks and halter necks will have the opposite effect."

Finally, of course there is also always the push-up bra too, but what if you don't have one to hand?
