Prince Charles and Camilla were in Notting Hill, west London, on Wednesday to show their support for the return of next month’s Notting Hill Carnival, the biggest street event in Europe.

Charles and Camilla seemed to love the event as they were seen chatting with the organisers.

The couple were also treated to a mini-carnival display at The Tabernacle.

For the fun event, Camilla wore a green floral dress.

The long gown featured three-quarter sleeves and a black belt.

The Duchess of Cornwall finished her look with a pair of cream suede pumps.

Camilla opted for a natural make-up look and styled her hair in her usual platinum blow dry.

She donned a pair of drop earrings and her Fitbit on her left wrist.

The royal was also seen carrying an unusual accessory: a cream bamboo handheld fan.

Hand fans are flat surfaces that are waved back and forth to create airflow,

They are shaped like a sector of a circle and can be closed when not in use.

The accessory is commonly used in Spain and became very popular after flamenco and dancers started using them in the Mediterranean country.

Handheld fans are available in many designs and colours and are perfect to accessorise a summer outfit.

Cultural site Luvinland explained: “The hand fan is not just decoration, it is a trademark of Spain, and it became part of Spanish culture, and of course, a cheap way to keep cool in the heat.

“Cheap since the most affordable ‘abanico’ (hand fan) can be purchased from 2€ (£1.69).

“However prices can go up to 500€ (£420) for really nice and vintage pieces.”

In the UK, Etsy sells a stylish “selection for the very best in unique or custom, handmade hand fans”.

Royal fans took to social media to praise Camilla’s summer look.

Twitter user @camilla17071947 commented: “OMG Camilla so vibrant!!!”

The world-famous Notting Hill Carnival will return next month for the first time since 2019.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Carnival, Charles wrote in the souvenir brochure: “The carnival is, I believe, a tremendous expression of the cultural variety which means so much as we continue to strive towards the establishment of a harmonious multi-cultural society.”
