Two RuPaul’s Drag Race queens, Monét X Change and Nina West were on The View to take part in a celebration of co-host Meghan McCain. Because of this, fans of the two are calling them out on social media for honoring someone like McCain.

Nina West and Monét X Change are two of the most beloved queens in Drag Race herstory

Both West and X Change are extremely popular Drag Race alums. Both of them won Miss Congeniality on their respective seasons, Season 10 and 11. X Change also returned for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 4, which she won alongside Trinity the Tuck.

The two queens have huge followings outside of the Drag Race fandom. X Change hosts a popular podcast and her own BUILD Series show, The X Change Rate.

Among West’s accomplishments include a short film that Entertainment Weekly says could land her a potential Oscar nomination.

Nina West and Monét X Change celebrate Meghan McCain on the view

For McCain’s birthday on Wednesday, both West and X Change appeared on the view to help celebrate the co-host.

This is not the first time that McCain has been joined by the queens. West, X Change and fellow Drag Race alum Adore Delano sat down with McCain on The View during Pride Month to discuss LGTBQ issues. Several media outlets criticized the queens back then for chatting with McCain, as many believe that her alignment with the Republican Party is been problematic in regard to LGBTQ issues.

McCain’s husband also has a documented history of homophobia and transphobia.

Fans are in disbelief that both queens would support McCain

Fans are not here for the two drag queens supporting McCain.

One said, “These two were 100% contractually obligates by WOW to do this, you won’t convince me otherwise. Nina west? Monet? Two of the least likely queens to fraternize with Meghan McCain…”

“This is gross. She’s an unrepentant fascist and you guys are ultra disappointing,” another fan wrote.

“Nina West and Monet have some explaining to do (as long it’s not that “we need to spread love no matter what” bs),” tweeted someone else.

While X Change has not commented on the backlash, West has responded to several of the critical tweets but has not directly addressed the controversy.
