The President of the United States has made it clear over the past two years he’s willing to burn any bridge with our allies if it means personal enrichment or ego boost, usually from an authoritarian.
But insulting a member of the Royal family? In a newspaper interview?
What the serious eff is Donald Trump thinking?!
We told you last week how Meghan Markle was essentially snubbing the POTUS during his trip to the United Kingdom next week.
The Unindicted Co-Conspirator-In-Chief, along with First Lady Melania Trump, are scheduled to begin their three-day visit on June 3.
On the itinerary? A trip to the Picture Gallery to view pieces from the Royal Collection which bear historical significance to the United States, the National Commemorative Event for the 75th anniversary of D-day, and… a private lunch with Prince Harry and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The Duchess of Sussex would ordinarily be expected to join her husband for such an event, but Meghan has elected to stay home with her newborn son.
Hey, it’s either that or lunch with a big f**king baby, so…
While Meghan does have a legitimate excuse — Baby Archie was born less than a month ago, and it’s understandable she wouldn’t want to leave him alone yet — this could certainly be construed as a quiet act of dissent against her former country’s leader.
As a Royal, Meghan is not allowed to speak publicly about politics anymore, but before all this she spoke her mind frequently on social media.
She proudly shared that she voted for Hillary Clinton and called Trump’s behavior “misogynistic and divisive.”
Which, we mean. Come on. Even his supporters would agree with that, right? They’re just in favor of it?
Meghan also spoke of moving to Canada if Trump was elected — an option which became unnecessary since she ended up moving a bit farther.
And for the exact opposite reason: to be CLOSER to a GREAT guy.
Well, now Trump has weighed in on Meghan’s comments, in a typically Trumpian manner — which is to say, that of a short-fingered vulgarian with the understanding of international diplomacy of a fifth or sixth grader.
During an interview with The Sun — a U.K. tabloid paper owned by Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire conservative who also owns Fox News — Trump was informed of how Meghan had spoken about the then-candidate when she was still a private U.S. citizen.
His response?
“I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
Wow. Just wow.
And Prince Harry is supposed to shake this POS POTUS’ hand on Monday and sit down for a civilized lunch?
Could you dine with a man who called the mother of your child “nasty”?
Hell no! This is too far. He shouldn’t go, the Queen shouldn’t go.
He needs to be sent a message that he can’t say whatever he wants, whenever he wants. It’s bad enough he’d say this about a private American citizen for voicing their political opinions, but about someone who’s become a beloved international figure and the face of our special relationship with the U.K.??
Just another day, another embarrassing international incident with ONE OF OUR ALLIES for Trump. Ugh.
