Princess Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have named their first child, Sienna Elizabeth.

Buckingham Palace announced that Beatrice, 33, gave birth to a baby girl weighing 6lbs 2oz at 11.42 pm on Saturday 18th September at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London.

And the sweet name for the pair's baby daughter has now been confirmed.

Announcing the beautiful name alongside a snap of her little footprints, a statement on the Royal Family Instagram account read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have named their daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi.

“The couple have said, “We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna.”

The Queen’s granddaughter Princess Beatrice posted the same picture to her personal Twitter account and wrote: “We are delighted to share that we have named our daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi.

"We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna."

Posting on his Instagram, Edoardo, 38, praised Princess Beatrice as he wrote: “Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi. Our life together has just begun, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things that await us.

“Feeling so much love and gratitude for my amazing wife, baby Sienna and Wolfie. These are the days I never want to forget. This week, a friend said to me the sweetest saying….that with every child you grow a whole new heart.

“A massive thank you to the Midwife and the amazing team at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.”

The spouses, who wed back in July 2020, announced their pregnancy in May this year but didn't reveal any details about the baby's gender.

The royal family are thrilled with their newest addition, with the palace announcing earlier this week that the Queen is "delighted with the news".

The baby is the monarch's 12th great-grandchild and is eleventh in line to the throne.

Since only grandchildren of the Monarch through the male line are given titles, Princess Beatrice's baby girl will be known as Miss Mapelli Mozzi.

Buckingham Palace said in the initial birth statement: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"The baby weighs six pounds and two ounces. The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news.

"The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall congratulated Beatrice and Edoardo on Twitter, writing: "Congratulations to Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on the happy news of the birth of their daughter."

Princess Eugenie also shared her joy at the news, revealing she was "so proud" of sister Beatrice.

Beatrice also announced the news of her baby's arrival on her own social media platforms.

She tweeted: "So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London."

She added: "Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care."
