Prince Harry has rubbished claims that he told a friend 'those Brits need to learn a lesson' before he appeared on the tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
A spokesperson for he and his wife Meghan Markle said that the Duke has 'never spoken ill of the British public' and anything said otherwise is 'shameful'.
The bombshell interview, which dropped in March 2021, saw the couple accuse the Royal Family of racism and ignoring Meghan's pleas for help when she was suicidal.
A source told The Sun that before the interview Harry had told a friend: "This is going to be quite shocking. Those Brits need to learn a lesson."
However speaking on Sunday, a spokesperson for the couple blasted those claims, saying: "To pit him against his country is shameful and manipulative, especially when Prince Harry has never spoken ill of the British public."
It comes as a source from Netflix has said the Royals should be bracing themselves for Thursday as Harry and Meghan's Netflix docuseries will be "worse than the royals can imagine."
One year after the interview, royal expert Duncan Larcombe told OK!: "We don’t know the outcome to a lot of what was said on Oprah. Meghan made a massive accusation, a very serious one, that effectively a member of the Royal Family made a racist remark.
"I’m not sure the public have shifted at all. I think the feeling towards Meghan is still one of suspicion."
He continued: “I still haven’t seen anything that Harry has actually gained. What has he gained by doing Oprah Winfrey? If he wanted to settle scores, he hasn’t.”
It comes just days before a new documentary series about the couple's split from the Royal Family is released online. It's produced by Archewell and streaming giant Netflix.
Harry and Meghan have recently released the trailer for their upcoming explosive series, which is due to air Thursday 8 December.
The highly-anticipated documentary series is thought to have earned the Duke and Duchess of Sussex $100million (£88million), and is expected to expose more damaging secrets on the Royal Family.
However, ahead of the release of the documentary, the head of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell company, Mandana Dayani, decided to leave her post after working at the company for just under 18 months.
A spokeswoman for Meghan and Harry said the pair would "take full lead of their company".
Following the release of the trailer fans of the royal couple flocked to the comments section on Twitter to share their thoughts.
"WOW what a trailer, I cannot wait!!" one keen person wrote.
Another shared: "Omg this is gonna be epic!" as a third chimed: "Their unseen pictures are really cute!! I can't wait to watch the documentary."
While a fourth added: "Wowwwww…really can't wait. I'm going to have to subscribe to Netflix for the first time ever, just like I got on Spotify for archetypes. The things I do for these 2."
