Alongside a photo of the late Princess of RnB, the ‘Get Ur Freak On’ hitmaker praises her collaborator for the continuing impact of her style and music to all the generations behind her.

AceShowbizMissy Elliott has paid tribute to the Princess of R&B Aaliyah on the 18th anniversary of her tragic death.

Sunday, August 25 marked 18 years since the star’s passing, when she was the victim of a plane crash in the Bahamas. And Missy, who collaborated with the singer throughout her career, honoured the late star with a touching tweet.

Alongside a photo of Aaliyah, who died aged 22, she wrote, “Aaliyah it’s been 18 years now but your STYLE & MUSIC still continues to IMPACT all the generations behind you!”

“May you rest In paradise in PEACE,” the 48-year-old added, along with a string of emojis.

In a later post, the “Get Ur Freak On” star added, “You will NEVER be forgotten so MANY LOVE you Babygirl… WE ALL MISS YOU!”

Aaliyah worked with the hip-hop star throughout the ’90s, with Missy writing and producing tracks for her second studio album, “One in a Million”.
