Meghan Markle "won't return to acting" despite her multi-million pound Netflix deal, a royal expert has said.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, whose father recently hit out at her The Cut interview as he said she "dumped me", made her on-screen debut back in 2002 in General Hospital.

It wasn't until she played the role of Rachel Zane on hit law show Suits that she found fame, starring alongside the likes of Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams.

But her acting career came to an abrupt end when she and Prince Harry, 37, decided to tie the knot back in 2018 in front of their nearest and dearest.

Not long after their nuptials though, the pair stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family, moved to the US and bagged themselves a lucrative deal with both Netflix and Spotify.

While there was some talk of Meghan potentially returning to screens, royal expert Kinsey Schofield has shut down those rumours as she told the Daily Star that the Duchess would've already started acting again if she had wanted to.

"She's got a big fat contract with Netflix. She could do whatever she wants with Netflix," the expert said. "So why isn't she producing? Why isn't she starring in some passion project with Netflix, because she's had two years to do that? So I am not of the team Meghan wants to go back into acting. "

Kinsey continued: "I don't think she's gonna go back into acting. I mean, she's had this Netflix deal and she's had several years to do whatever she wanted to do with it.

"And and nothing's come to fruition … if she wanted to be an actress, she's had the opportunity to do that with her Netflix contract and her Netflix relationship. I don't understand what the holdup is."

While she may not be pursuing a career in acting any time soon, Meghan did finally launch her Spotify podcast two years after signing the £18million deal.

There has so far only been a "holiday special", which featured both Meghan, 40, and Harry, 37, which was 35 minutes long and was released shortly after the deal was made public.

Now, Meghan has announced the podcast will release new content from this summer onwards. In a promotional video about the podcast, she told fans: "People should expect the real me in this and probably the me they've never gotten to know. Certainly not in the past few years, where everything is through the lens of the media. As opposed to, 'Hey, it's me.'

"I'm just excited to be myself and talk, and be unfiltered, and yeah, it's fun."
