Meghan Markle, 39, “wanted to meet someone” when she visited Britain, according to TV personality Lizzie Cundy, 53. The revelation comes after the Duchess of Sussex and the TV star grew close, prompting the then-Suits actress to share her penchant for English men with her new friend after visiting the capital in 2013.

The columnist now claims that Meghan made no secret of her desire to meet an Englishman.

Lizzie said: “We have a clip of her saying: ‘I want to be a London girl, I love London men and I love everything to do with London'”, she told the Daily Mail.

Meghan and Lizzie first met in 2013 when the English columnist accompanied the US star to a charity event in the UK.

“I was asked to look after Meghan when she came over here. She wanted to meet someone,” Lizzie explained.

However, the star then told how Meghan “ghosted” her after meeting Prince Harry and becoming engaged a few years later.

Lizzie explained: “She ghosted me once the engagement hit.

“She’s ghosted quite a lot of people, obviously, including her family, so I’m not the worst person she’s ghosted.”

Meghan and Harry met in 2016 on a blind date, which was set up by a mutual friend.

During a photocall in Kensington Palace Gardens following their engagement, Harry said that he knew Meghan was the one from “the very first time we met”.

In November 2017, the couple announced their engagement and in May 2018, they married at Windsor Castle.

A year later, the couple welcomed their first child together, son Archie.

In Spring 2020, Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming that the couple will step back from official royal duties, sparking rumours of a breakaway from the royal family.

Following a brief stint in Canada, the couple moved to LA and earlier this year, they welcomed daughter Lilibet.

Since moving stateside, the power couple have secured multi-million pound deals with Netflix and Spotify.

They also founded Archewell, a non-profit organisation which drives “systemic cultural change across communities.”

Days ago, the Duke of Sussex announced that he will be publishing a memoir of his life next year.

Following a deal with Penguin Random House, the royal said the book will reflect the “highs and lows” of his life and will be “accurate and wholly truthful”.

In a statement, Harry said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become.”

He added: “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story – the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned – I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a first hand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful”, he finished.
