Meghan Markle had fans clambering to meet her in Germany as she and Prince Harry attended the one year countdown event to the Invictus games today.

The pair are spending this week on an unofficial royal tour, which began with 41 year old Meghan making a speech at the One Young World Summit in Manchester on Monday night.

The Duchess of Sussex said it was "nice to be back" as the pair made their first return to the United Kingdom since the Queen's Jubilee in June.

The couple then jetted over to Düsseldorf, Germany, where they were met with swarms of fans hoping for photographs of the former Royals.

Meghan sported a sleeveless white top and beige trousers as the Sussexes touched down in Europe.

Her hair was in a sleek bun and when it came to accessories, Meghan stuck to classics including her much-loved Cartier watch, which once belonged to Princess Diana.

The Invictus Games will commence in Germany in September 2023, but were initially meant to be held this year.

Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan were greeted with a red carpet as they walked hand-in-hand and were met by local officials at city hall. The pair were also seen petting a dog, adorably sporting an Invictus Games bandana, on arrival.

It's been a busy few weeks for the Sussexes, with Meghan recently celebrating the launch of her long-awaited podcast, Archetypes.

Each episode sees Meghan joined by a famous guest to discuss labels unfairly placed on women.

The first featured Serena Williams, while the second saw the Duchess and Mariah Carey explore the label of 'diva'.

The latest release saw Meghan joined by Mindy Kaling, and opening up about her childhood, Meghan revealed she felt like an "ugly duckling" during her time at school.

Later this week, the Sussexes will return to the UK before jetting back to the States – but it's thought they won't be seeing any of Harry's close relatives while here.

Claiming the couple "turned down" invites from the Queen and Prince Charles, a royal expert said this week: “The Queen always has this wonderful, extended stay for her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. There's a big sleepover at Balmoral, they were invited to go to that.

“They were also invited to go to Birkhall with the Prince of Wales and thus far they haven't done it.”
