Comedian Katherine Ryan has taken to Instagram to share a video with her newborn daughter Fenna, after her partner Bobby Kootstra announced the birth earlier today.

Posting to her Instagram Story, Katherine shared a clip discussing the birth, joking that she was the "MVP of the whole thing."

Speaking to her eldest daughter Violet, she asks: "She said, 'You will not have the baby in my room' where did we have the baby?" to which the 12 year old replied: "My room."

Opening up about her pregnancy, while holding Fenna, the mum-of-three continues: "I'm the MVP of the whole thing, along with private midwives and Bobby. We did it."

She then revealed that during their home birth they "hit a glitch" which delayed things, adding: "It was a bit touch and go, but we made it and we got to stay home."

Announcing the birth on his Instagram page, Bobby praised his partner's strength, and shared a photo showing an exhausted Katherine as she rested over an inflatable pool and held onto a gas and air pump mid-labour.

He wrote: "Grace Kootstra Dec 16, at 12:05am. Mom is incredible! Proving her strength repeatedly through the relatively lengthy delivery at home. We are so blessed:)".

While pregnant, Katherine had revealed that she was hoping to have a home birth with her third child as she gives birth “quickly”. A wish that luckily came true, despite there being something of a glitch.

Bobby later shared a photo on Instagram Stories of their one year old son Fred meeting his younger sibling, who was seen wrapped in a blanket. Katherine also posted the sweet photo, following the birth.

Katherine also shared a photo of her bump before giving birth, writing: "Before it all kicked off… RIP my cutest pregnancy yet [crying emoji] I'll miss you sacred bod."

Katherine announced she was expecting her third child, and second with husband Bobby, back in July on her Katherine Ryan: Telling Everybody Everything podcast.

She said: "You guys know I'm pregnant, I've been pregnant for a while and here's how I did that.

"I got pregnant while breastfeeding the first time I tried and, to be honest with you, I didn't think it's going to work because I'm 39 – I would have been 38 when I got pregnant.

She went on: "I thought, 'We've got to get the kids out of the way'. You never know how long you're gonna have and I love my kids. I just thought, 'Well let's go for it'."
