Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle and Moira Barton split after she had an affair with his secret son Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter). Despite their bitter break-up, Jeff Hordley, 50, has said he would love to see the pair rekindle.

He said: “I’d love them to be back together as I love working with Natalie (J Robb).

“We have a shorthand on set with each other, so it makes working with her really easy.

“It would be nice for them to back together,” he added to Digital Spy.

Jeff went on to highlight that the former on-screen couple co-parent together.

He also has daughter Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) with his ex Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

The actor went on to say: “It’s similar to the Cain and Charity and Debbie thing – they’re always going to be bound by their child and they have to get on in some shape of form.

“They have to move forward as any parent does when a relationship breaks down and there’s children involved.

“That’s where we will see how they cope with life apart but having to be tied by and sharing the childcare.”

Cain confronted Moira and Nate about their affair when the trio went on a fishing trip last year.

He had previously believed his wife was playing away with Pete Barton (Anthony Quinlan).

Elsewhere in the Dales, the soap’s latest villain DI Malone (Mark Womack), has coerced Cain, Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) and his son Billy (Jay Kontzle) into doing his dodgy dealings for him, while he holds damning evidence against them.

In recent episodes, the corrupt police officer demanded Cain and Billy get rid of a car for him, but they had other plans.

After finding blood inside the 4×4, the two devised a plan to keep it hidden as leverage against Malone.

Addressing these recent events, he added to the publication: “Will puts a spanner in the works for Cain and Billy.

“Every time Cain thinks he’s getting a handle on the situation, Will squeals.”

While his love life may be up in the air on the soap, the actor is married to his co-star Zoe Henry, who plays Rhona Goskirk, in real life.

The actress revealed what it’s like working with her husband, in an interview with The Sun.

“It’s important to have a laugh in-between takes so upsetting stories don’t get you down too much,” she divulged.

“Working on the same show as Jeff, who plays Cain Dingle, also helps because if one of us is having a bad day then the other will completely understand.”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
