Jamie Redknapp has said Ian Wright will be 'relieved' to be off I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after struggling with the 'intense' experience.

56-year-old Wright has been keeping a low profile since leaving the show on Wednesday night and refused to take part in the usual ITV daytime appearances.

Jamie, 46, said he was surprised by Ian's exit and thought he could win the show, but admits hunger took over.

"Listen, Wrighty will be fine," said Jamie. "It's intense. I watched my dad go through it last year and the lack of food is very difficult for people to handle.

"My dad didn't eat for four days.

"I think it's easy to get a bit hangry. Wrighty is a funny guy. I thought he was going to win it.

"But he'll be relieved he's out and now he's with his wife," said Jamie, who has teamed up with Vodafone to promote their new Festive Squad game.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie insists there will be no teasing from Wrighty's co-stars when he does return home.

"I'm looking forward to seeing him. I miss him," he admitted.

"Fair play to him because he went and did it. It's not easy. To be subjected to no food and be surrounded by people you don't know is not easy."

A source told Mirror Online today that TV bosses were 'gutted' that Ian decided not to discuss his stint on the show on daytime shows including Good Morning Britain, Lorraine and This Morning on Thursday.

His mysterious silence makes Ian the first campmate this series not to speak out.

He only made an appearance on spin-off show Extra Camp, which is the bare minimum he is signed up to do.

Ian is said to have missed the shows so he can spend as much time as possible with his wife Nancy Hallam and their two children, who he missed terribly while he was in the jungle.

After leaving the show last night Ian hugged hosts Ant and Dec when he left the camp.

"Wheres my missus?" he immediately wanted to know.

Of the experience he said: "It's been unbelievable, I swear to god. I needed the challenge for myself. I'm so happy."
