Ferne McCann has thanked ITV's This Morning for "sharing my side of the story" after being embroiled in a shock voice note scandal last year.

The former TOWIE star was on the sofa to speak to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield ahead of the tenth series of her ITVBe show, Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, which starts on Wednesday night at 9pm.

During the chat, Ferne spoke about the voice note drama, after an anonymous Instagram account leaked clips where she could be heard talking disparagingly about people including her former pals, Sam Faiers and Billie Shepherd.

Following the interview, Ferne took to Instagram to share snaps of herself in the studio, as she posed cradling her bump in a deep-coloured dress with a slit up one thigh, which she paired with cream high-heeled boots.

In the caption, Ferne wrote: "Thank you so much @thismorning for having me on the sofa today. I felt super relaxed, welcomed and it was a safe place to share a little of my side of the story and all things [First Time Mum]."

She also insisted that her dress is actually purple, not blue as it looked on the TV or in photographs, as she said it was not an attempt to hint at the gender of her unborn child.

"This is not a hint I literally have no idea what we are having & do not have an inkling. What do you think?" the star added.

Ferne, who is already mum to six year old daughter Sunday, broke down in tears during her chat with Holly and Phil, as she publicly apologised for the voice notes.

She got emotional as she watched a teaser clip of tonight's show, where she can be seen sobbing to longtime pal, James 'Arg' Argent as she confides in him about how much she struggled amid the voice note drama.

Wiping away her tears, Ferne admitted "it's really hard to watch," adding that when you let the cameras follow your life for reality TV, it's "warts and all".

She continued: "It definitely wasn't my finest hour, and it definitely was a very difficult time in my life when those voice notes were leaked.

"I do need to take this opportunity to publicly apologise again to those affected. Obviously the words that I used were unpleasant and I have reached out privately to those people."

Ferne added: "It's very difficult because I would love to sit here with you guys and my followers to share exactly what went on. But it's now part of a criminal investigation so I can't do that.

"But what I can say, these voice notes were from a time when I was in a very vulnerable situation and a very difficult situation for me five to six years ago.

"Since then, I have done a lot of work on myself, I have been in therapy for six years and I feel that I am a different person.
