EastEnders actress Shona McGarty amazed fans as she revealed her second career outside of the popular BBC soap.

Shona, who earlier dazzled fans with a fresh, cropped haircut, has played Whitney Dean, the adoptive daughter of Patsy Palmer’s Bianca Jackson, since 2008.

Whitney has been involved in countless central storylines since her first appearance, and most recently, she discovered her baby has Edwards’ Syndrome.

Shona, 31, took to social media on Monday, where she treated her Instagram followers to a behind-the-scenes look at her life, revealing that she is also part of a gospel choir called UpMass.

Alongside a snap of her fellow singers, the soap star revealed there were “exciting times ahead” for the choir group.

On her Instagram grid, Shona showed her 179k followers a video of herself and rest of the choir belting a Christian tune.

"Throwback to when we brought @upmass07 to @bbceastenders,” she recalled.

The TV star could be seen in a figure-hugging black dress that featured lace detailing on the sleeves as she paced in front of the stage.

Reacting to the clip, one person said: “ohh… youre voice… you really should be a pro singer youre acting is good too though lol.”

“Sister Act 2023,” another said, with a third adding, “Wow gave me goosebumps.”

Shona previously performed Hallelujah at the Royal British Leigon Festival of Remembrance in November last year, which she also posted to social media with the caption: "Such an honour. A truly humbling experience. We will remember them."

Many of Shona’s co-stars celebrated her vocal ability in the comments, with Stacey Slater actress Lacey Turner penning: "Your talent is endless. I love you."

Zack Hudson actor James Farrar, also said: “Watched 100 times. So proud G. You look like you felt every second of it. We did."

"This is so so so special and beautiful,” wrote former EastEnders actress Jacqueline Jossa, as Ian Beale actor Adam Woodyatt adding: "Stunning. Just stunning. You absolutely smashed it."

Earlier this week, Shona reduced soap fans to tears after she gave birth to her baby girl following a termination to bring on early labour.

Whitney and Zack were forced to make the heartbreaking decision after an earlier diagnosis of Edwards Syndrome, a “genetic condition that begins to affect babies when they're in the womb, and continues to impact their health throughout their life.”

Fans took to social media following the episode to applaud both Shona and James for their approach to their sensitive storyline.

"Whitney and Zack scenes are incredibly moving with baby Peach,” one person said, as someone else replied, "Those scenes between Whitney and Zack broke me tonight. Shona McGarty and James Farrar have handled this storyline so brilliantly and sensitively. Beautiful performances. Utterly heartbreaking to watch."
