Dave Grohl, Killer Mike, Quincy Jones and several other renowned artists have been included in the advisory board of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA).

Noelle Scaggs, Tiffany Kerns, Lyor Cohen, Boris Patronoff and Michele Suzanne Ballantyne also figure in the new advisory board list announced by NIVA on Thursday (February 11).

The new advisory board will lend insights to both NIVA and the National Independent Venue Foundation (NIVF) as the live industry seeks to optimize its return from the live industry’s coronavirus shutdown.

A note from NIVA says the new advisory board will further assist in preserving and nurturing the ecosystem of independent live venues and promoters across the United States by sharing diverse knowledge and professional expertise to help navigate through the remainder of this pandemic and rebuild the live entertainment ecosystem in a transparent, diverse, and inclusive way.

“Officially expanding our coalition to include partners new and old, allows us to innately incorporate those who have stood by our side from the very beginning, like Boris Patronoff from See Tickets, and new voices that will help guide the future,” NIVA executive director Rev. Moose said in a statement.

NIVA, which was formed at the onset of the COVID-19 shutdown, has provided critical relief to the live industry, helping to secure the passage of the bipartisan Save Our Stages Act in December as part of the federal government’s larger COVID-19 package.
