Billy Bush is coming back to television… and he’s got a lot to say about what got him booted in the first place!

As you’ll no doubt remember, Bush was the host on Access Hollywood way back in 2005 when Donald Trump was caught on a hot microphone making his infamous “grab ’em by the p***y” comments. The tape was leaked ahead of the 2016 presidential election, and while it didn’t hurt Trump (he became President…), it definitely hurt Bush.

But now, Bush is back in the spotlight again. The TV host is set to (re)debut as the host of Extra Monday night after a three-year hiatus following his banishment over reactions to Trump’s awful comments on that infamous leaked tape.

Ahead of his return, Bush sat down Monday morning with CBS journalist Gayle King. In the interview — which aired in part on CBS This Morning today and will air in full Tuesday morning — Bush opens up about how life has been for him since the scandal, and what his hiatus the last three years has meant.

For one, it sounds like he’s still bitter — or at least frustrated — about how the tape was leaked in the first place, telling King (below):

“I was comfortable that wasn’t going to be weaponized … and I got taken out, but I wasn’t the target.”

Collateral damage, to put it mildly!

More interestingly, Bush discusses how initially it appeared he wasn’t going to lose his job on NBC‘s Today — right up until it came time to fly to New York to film the very next week, and he learned (from his driver!) that he’d been canned.

He explained more (below):

“I was told, ‘You’re good. Don’t worry about it. It’s not you. You didn’t say anything.’ Remember, it was leaked on a Friday and then Sunday morning I walked out of that door right over there with my bags to go back to work and the driver said, ‘I’m sorry. They’ve canceled the car.’ … I became a very different guy . So the guy that got fired — no question — was a very different guy.”

Interesting!

NOT siding with Bush or anything, but it is pretty s**tty for a network exec to confirm you’re going to be OK, only to change minds — and then not have the guts to call you, making you find out from a driver — in 24 hours! Truth hurts!!!

Anyways, you can get caught up by watching the entire mini-clip and teaser of tomorrow’s full interview with Bush (below):

Hmmm…

What do U think about all this, Perezcious readers?!

As much as Bush wants to smooth things over like nothing happened, he does deserve some blame for being so sycophantic, doesn’t he?!?!

But at the same time… Trump is an asshole! Wish we could’ve just canned Trump!
