Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke, 55, has opened up on noticing a positive change in his personal life after joining the BBC show’s judging panel this year. Prior to taking Bruno Tonioli’s seat alongside fellow judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse, Anton was rushed off his feet teaching celebrities how to dance as a Strictly pro.

As a result, he had much less time to spend with his wife Hannah Summers and their four-year-old twins, George and Henrietta, at home.

Fortunately, Anton’s new role on Strictly has afforded him more quality time with his family, and his children are really enjoying tuning in to watch him give his verdict on the couples’ performances each weekend.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with, Anton said: “The children have really got into watching the show, and understanding the whole concept of a television show and me being on it, and it’s lovely.

“And they do sit up and watch it on a Saturday night.”

Anton has also found himself to be a big hit at the school gates when picking up and dropping off his youngsters.

Addressing the reaction, the King of Ballroom said: “What also is lovely is, I go on the school run in the morning, or I pick up in the afternoon, whatever it is, and the other children come up to me and they say ‘I saw you on the dancing! I saw you on the dancing!’

“Will, who is at school with George, we’re friends with his parents and he’s often round, he’s been watching.

“Apparently, he’s obsessed with watching me dance and he watches me dance on YouTube.

“So his parents, Jules and Darren, just have to keep on YouTubing clips of me dancing!”

On enjoying his free time away from the pressures of gruelling Strictly rehearsals, Anton added: “That is one of the plus sides of the role, is that I’ve been afforded more time at home.

“Because I only ever do Saturdays, just doing the weekends.

“And of course, it can give me the opportunity to do the pantomime, so that’s quite nice.”

The star’s clearer calendar has prompted him to sign up to his upcoming pantomime debut as Buttons in Cinderella this festive season.

He revealed: “Now I’m judging, it’s afforded me the time, so I’m loving the thought of doing the pantomime.

“I can’t wait, and it’s something my children can come to and enjoy.

“They’ll probably come to every performance and we’ll use it as childcare!” Anton quipped.

Anton has been married to Hannah since 2017.

In the same year, they welcomed their twins Henrietta and George via IVF.

The pair met at a dinner function.
