Adele is focused on remaining the best version of herself as she can be while she gears up to release new music.

All eyes have been on the Grammy Award–winning singer since she’s debuted a more svelte frame in recent weeks—first in a surprise Instagram post over the holidays and again while vacationing in Anguilla with close friends Harry Styles and James Corden.

According to People, Adele has been actively pursuing a healthier lifestyle not just for herself but also for the sake of her 7-year-old son, Angelo Adkins, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Simon Konecki.

“It’s easy to just focus on her physical transformation, but this is really about something bigger,” a source close to Adele told People. “She got to the point where she didn’t feel great. She knew she had to change something, because she wants to be the healthiest mom possible.”

Though recent headlines have remained preoccupied over Adele’s weight fluctuation, sources say Adele’s overall mission was to feel better rather than merely “looking” better.

“Her whole focus during the weight loss journey has really how been all about how she can be healthier and how can she treat her body better,” continued the source. “It was never about losing weight. Her weight loss happened because she has cut down drinking and is eating more real food. But she now loves her physical transformation too. She is more confident, dresses differently and she just seems happier overall.”

The source also told People that Adele is preparing herself “both mentally and physically” to promote new music. It was rumored her latest album would come out at the end of 2019, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news of a single or album release date ever since.

“It seems it will happen later this year,” a source told the magazine. “She talks about last year as a very difficult year, and she’s said in the past that creating new music is almost like therapy. You can tell that she is ready to share with her fans.”
